she likes: watching tv, sucking on her fingers, kicking like crazy, her aquarium bouncer, toys, her bumbo
she dislikes: tummy time (still), baths (still)
she's: been garage sale-ing, been to the doctor twice for a fever (cross your fingers it gets better soon), visited with her cousins, been to work with momma and out with mommy's friends for lunch
she's getting so big. at the doctor's yesterday, she was 12 lbs 10 oz. WOW. how the heck did that happen? must be all the formula she's getting now. she's really developing a personality and is a pretty happy baby (except for when she's not feeling well). she is still not a fan of tummy time so she's yet to roll over. she LOVES other kids and laughs like heck at one of the babies that my mom takes care of. she's really a delight to watch and talk to. she definitely has stories to tell.
i have been dying for some creative time but with a sick babe, it hasn't been happening. hoping she starts feeling better soon so i can have some me-time (and of course, so she's not sick! it's so sad to see her so upset!). if she's feeling better by friday, we're going to take her to the state fair with my mom, brother, sister-in-law, james, and charlie and i'm really excited for that.
that's about it that's happening over here. doesn't she look gorgeous in her cute dress? i wish i got better pics but i think i was lucky to get any today between her doctor appointment and general crankiness,
so. now that the babe is almost 3 months old, i figured it's high time to actually hang the stuff on her walls and print pictures for the frames. so her room is about 99.9% done. one more thing to hang. and i actually made really cute chalkboard labels for some stuff that are still downstairs in the scrap area. they'll make it up here eventually.... thought id share some photos of the details:
when you walk in the room, behind the door, theres a huge shelf with lots of storage on it. it's not very pretty, but it's hidden behind the door. lol. then there's the rocker and next to the rocker, her bookshelf. it's actually three shelves, but you can only see two in this pic. the shelf is full of books already. Madelyn's favorite books are On the Night You Were Born, Mama's Right Here, The Seven Sily Eaters, and The Monster at the End of This Book. We spend a lot of time in her glider nursing, reading, and cuddling.
Madelyn got this beautiful chair from her Aunt Judy for my baby shower.
We finally got it personalized a few weeks ago....
On the shelf:
Princess Baby from Amy
Elephant stuffed animal that I bought from her in Boston
Handmade crosstitch from my best friend, Erica
Butterfly hangers from a garage sale
Madelyn's handprint and footprint at a month old in frames from a Target kit
print from Kal Bareski "You are destined for greatness"
Madelyn's toys that hang above her on the changing table
Frame from garage sale
Other odds and ends
(and there used to be the prettiest ballerina on this shelf handed down
from my grandmother but it was broken a few days ago by my brother
trying to kill a spider for us. SAD.)
the princess on her changing table while momma took pictures.
madelyn's dresser with all her pj's and bath stuff. cute pully stuffed animals from the thrift store. cute frame from the thrift store. pretty butterfly on the front.
print bought from a craft fair by her grandmother.
painting by my uncle pete.
apron by sugar baby vintage
frames bought from thrift store with tons of photos by peter miller
tree print by seattle show posters
custom print by Kal Barteski
this is right above her crib. it looks SO pretty.
canvas made by me
chandelier (you can see the bottom of it) from Ikea
butterflies (which run all across the wall) from Home Goods
"M" from a family friend
her armoire. so pretty .holds all of her beautiful clothes.
looking into the room. pretty curtains from Target. her cosleeper next to my bed. her mobile hanging over her cosleeper. this is our everyday mess and happy life.
oh, my darling... you were so not the happiest baby for your mini photo shoot today.... but we just had to do it because today you are 10 weeks old. jeesh. i'm starting to lose track of how many weeks you are when someone asks me. we're still off dairy around here (and man i miss it). but in addition to that, i think i'm having some other issues with not producing enough milk so i've had to supplement her. it's very frustrating... but we don't want a hungry babe.
she likes: sucking on anything and everything, having her cheeks rubbed and belly rubbed and belly kisses, being held, her toys
she dislikes: hm. being made to sleep alone... my spoiled little girl
she's: video chatted with her aunt rissa and uncle ryan in vienna, video chatted with auntie melissa in cape cod, to garage sales and thrift stores, helped momma book our first vacation (we're going to cape cod july 26-31 ---- SO excited! my babes gonna look SO cute in her little bikinis)
it's been a bit of a rough week around here. first, mommy went off dairy to keep madelyn's gas to a minimum so that's made madelyn less cranky, but mommy more cranky. then madelyn had her appointment on monday for her two month visit and she got lots of immunizations that hurt her and gave her a bit of a fever. she was feeling so sick yesterday that she literally nursed for like 12 hours (yes, it was exhausting). today she's been better, sleeping lots. today, we also FINALLY hung all the artwork on her walls in her room. jeesh ;) she's gotten so much more lively this week and is really able to carry on a conversation.
she likes: sleeping on her side, her mobile, being in the baby bjorn but not putting her arms through the arm holes, kicking with her feet, reading books, being sung to
she dislikes: shots
she's been: on her first trip out of state -- to brooklyn for the renegade fair, to the doctor's for her two month appointment, visited by her aunt, uncle, and cousins, to the grocery store with mommy, to mommy's work again
oh, pretty girl... you are two months old today. right around this time two months ago, i was barely dilated. thinking you wouldn't be there that day and anxiously (read: impatiently) awaiting your arrival.
two months later and i cannot even remember or fathom life without you, even though my life has changed so drastically. this past week, i've had to go on a dairy-free diet just to try to relieve some of your painful gas.... and it seems to be helping but man, momma misses her ice cream ;) but it's worth it for you... it breaks my heart when you're in pain.
my life is surrounded by pretty dresses, pacifiers, dirty diapers, tons of products for your terrible skin, toys, onesies. my heart is abundantly overwhelmed every single time i look into your beautiful blue eyes. every time you fall asleep with your momma and cry for your momma.
happy two month birthday, my love. they've been the best, scariest, happiest, craziest, most insane, most joyous, most wonderful two months of my life.
my mom, madelyn, and i went to the renegade fair today in brooklyn. i wanted to go to it SO badly, but to tell you the truth, i was a TAD disappointed... i think perhaps if i were a tiny little thing and had loads of money to spend, i would have liked it more because i could fit into and buy all the pretty clothes.... but alas, that's not my fate. they didn't have too many baby things so that was disappointing. the onesies that they had that i liked were $20+ and that's just a little more than i can afford right now! LOL
however, here are some things i loved and thought i'd share with you... go support some local artists:
mean cards --- these are the funniest cards i have probably ever read. i was cracking up reading each and every one and would like to send lots of them out. i didn't buy any, but rest assured, i will.
Seattle Show Posters -- i LOVED their posters. i bought this one, but it doesn't have the writing on the bottom of it. it's gonna look awesome in the babes room. i also really liked this one, minus the writing, of course.
Prism Pop - they don't appear to have many on the site, but they have really fabulous little postcards made from recycled paper and soy inks. i definitely bought one of those.
Caja Jewelry - pretty necklaces. and they make custom nameplates, which i've been wanting to get for madelyn. so when i have some moula, i'll be looking into that.
Rinse Bath and Body Co. - delicious smelling soaps
A.S.I.S. - i don't remember what it was that i loved at this booth, but it must have been something because i grabbed a card... hmm.
Look Closely Press -- her etsy is empty at the moment and she may not be producing them anymore, but she had the coolest magnets that you could write messages on. i loved them. i meant to go back and get one, but forgot. dang,
Heather Toupin -- again, I can't remember what I specifically loved and her shop is closed this weekend for the fair... but it must have rocked, so check it out when she's back up
The Chalkboard Tee --- honestly, this was one of the coolest things I saw. so innovative, i think. my nephew would love a chalkboard tee!
go - Monkey Design -- i'm pretty sure this is where i bought the cutest little sewn pig as a gift for someone, but it's not listed on her etsy... so maybe i'm wrong... check out her other cute stuff though!
Miss Natalie -- she has the cutest growth charts. i just love them
Pip-Squak Chapeau -- they seemed to have the most beautiful, plain, lovely clothes, but for some reason the booth was blocked off and i couldn't get in.... sad.
Lorelei SF -- cool wooden posters. but they dont have them on their etsy. shame.
Cutesy but not Cutesy - self-explanatory. i loved these too. sigh. oh, to be rich.
okay, that's all the cards i grabbed. enjoy looking through them! and i will most likely be back tomorrow with a TWO MONTH (!!!!) update on my pretty girl.
you all must be so lucky ;) ha. j/k. anyways, wanted to share some scrapping that i did yesterday! second time getting to scrap since the babe was born and it was great! i could scrap forever the photos i have of her!
Got a busy weekend ahead of me. townwide garage sales on saturday and on sunday, i'm going here:
so super excited for that. i found out about it last year after it happened so i was determined to remember this year. any of you local girls going??
hope you all have a beautiful weekend!
june 1 - 7 1/2 weeks
may 30 7 1/2 weeks
all june 3. 8 weeks.
on one hand, it seriously makes me want to cry that she's growing up so fast. on the other, i can't wait for her to be a bigger person - a person that i can introduce to so many fun things that i loved growing up and so many things that i always wanted to do and never did. this little babe is becoming a real person - a smiling, talking back, responding to her momma person. and it's wonderful and amazing and frankly, just a little bit sad. so big she is. so so big. on monday, she will have her two month doctor's appointment and i am quite a bit worried for her reaction to the immunizations. poor girl.
anyways...
she likes: momma's clean and pretty song, kisses on her belly, being "boop'd" on her nose, her jingle bell chimes
she dislikes: tummy time, being put down in bed after falling asleep with mommy
she's been: helping her momma host a supremely awesome garage sale, to lots of garage sales (and got the prettiest baby clothes ever), to target (our fave store!), to jessica's engagement party
